On a weekend of indifferent to dismal weather a few of us got out on Saturday for a damp yomp up Pen Llithrig y Wrach. At least the rain turned to snow on the top but we didn’t hang around for long as a cafe stop and a shower had to be fitted in before dinner. Other BBRCC members took the opportunity to inspect the new bunk set-up in Room 3 at Cae Groes and offer constructive criticism to the house manager in person.
On Saturday evening 64 people attended the dinner at the Princes Arms in Trefriw and enjoyed an excellent menu and beer. We then settled down to enjoy our guest speaker’s entertaining talk about her latest journey. Lois Pryce is a traveller and adventurer and has recently published her new book, Revolutionary Ride, an account of her motorcycle journey to and through Iran. She spoke of how her journey started with a chance encounter outside the Iranian embassy in London, her trepidation at the Iranian border and then the generous welcome that she received from the Iranian people. Her journey covered 3000 miles within Iran and made inspirational listening. For lots more information about Lois have a look at her website at www.loisontheloose.com.
Next year’s annual dinner and AGM will be held on the 27th January 2018. Put it in your diary and look out for the booking form later in the year.
